A kind of spin-off from the MTV Jackass series where Johnny Knoxville occasionally played a very grumpy old man, Bad Grandpa is a hidden camera comedy movie that was released in 2013, being produced and directed by Jeff Tremaine. The film went on to be a huge hit, grossing more than $150 million at the box office and making Johnny Knoxville even more wealthy than he already was.
The story revolves around a young boy called Billy, who is being looked after by his grandfather (Johnny Knoxville, aka Irving Zisman), who is a very, very bad influence. During the film, he takes Billy on a road trip, where they meet all kinds of unlikely characters and perform some very funny stunts.
This YouTube video shows our favourite scene from Bad Grandpa, where Irving persuades his grandson Billy to enter a typical American beauty pageant, dressed as a little girl called Lindsay Deal. All of the other parents are horrified by Billy's routine on the stage when he / she dances to 'My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean', which merges into a somewhat raunchy version of 'She's My Cherry Pie' by American heavy metal band Warrant. It is the reactions of the parents gasping with sheer horror in the audience that makes this scene pure comedy gold.
